Keeping a Girl in School

Our Background

Founded in 2019, Keeping a Girl in School (KGS) is a community-led nonprofit organisation based in Kenya, dedicated to advancing Menstrual Health Management (MHM), education, and community empowerment. We work to break barriers to education by improving access to menstrual products, hygiene essentials, and learning materials, while equipping young people with the knowledge and resources they need to thrive.

Our approach recognises that keeping a girl in school goes beyond providing menstrual products—it requires empowering individuals, strengthening communities, and creating an environment where every child can learn and reach their full potential.

To empower communities to live healthy, dignified lives where menstruation is never a barrier to education, opportunity, or freedom.

Mission

Design and deliver impactful community-based programs in schools, orphanages, and underserved communities that keep girls in school, provide access to critical health and life-skills education, and build the confidence, leadership, and agency they need to thrive and drive positive change.
